Cove and Perdita intend to request a marriage of the ship’s captain the moment it embarks from Bohemia’s shores. But their departure is detained by the appearance of Cove’s father, the king’s emissary, and the woman standing in Perdita’s place as the newly found princess as fellow passengers on the same ship bound for Sicilia. Instead of the romantic escape they craved, Perdita is hiding below the deck of the ship while Cove smoothes things out with his father.

Once they arrive in Sicilia, it doesn’t take much for her fears to overtake her. She and Cove are treading on perilous ground. If the king finds out he’s been lied to, the punishment for lying to royalty is death.

Perdita can’t risk being found—not only for her sake, but for Cove’s. They want nothing more than to be together. But the path to safety may mean she’ll have to give up a life with him completely.
