Wondering ‘What should I read next?’ Read Burn: A Bad Boy Sweet Romance by Elana Johnson.
Most readers know about romantic suspense novels. You might even be a lover of them - I know I am! But there's a smaller niche inside romantic suspense novels, and straight up romance novels too - and that's the idea of the bad boy. I want to talk about this "bad boy sweet romance" genre today, and hopefully you'll realize that you've been reading these all along, they might just be labeled or packaged differently than you're used to seeing. They're really sweet! They're really clean romances. They simply feature a hero who may have walked on the wild side for a bit in his life. We're talking rockstars, bad boy billionaires, rough cowboys, and even bikers, boxers, and even someone on the "good" side of the law but who breaks the rules. James Bond, anyone? The Rat Pack? The Jets? That last group even sings: “We ain’t no delinquents, / We’re misunderstood. / Deep down inside us there is good!” And we can see how misunderstood they are, and how good they are, and we love them. Historically, the bad boy gives us someone to root for. He's the guy we love to hate, but we're secretly hoping he can overcome the obstacles in his way - and inside himself - to become the hero we know if lurking beneath the surface. I started writing these heroes last year, and I tucked them into romantic suspense novels. My first series features men who don't care about rules, a rough-around-the-edges hermit, billionaires, rockstars, and a biker. And from that biker character, I fell in love with motorcycle clubs. Only 1% of motorcycle clubs are outlaw clubs, and there are many clubs with religious ties. Bikers for Christ is a big organization, and one of their protocols is "never ever lie." It was these types of clubs I wanted to base my motorcycle club on. So I created the Sentinels, and their motto is to help those who can't help themselves or just need a hand up. The first book in the series, BURN, is only 99¢ this month, and I hope you'll give this series a try! You'll first meet Bulldog, who's actually a member of a rival club of the Sentinels - and who really wants to be a Sentinel. But first he has to get out of his own club... It's got danger and intrigue. Suspense and tension. But the heart of it all is a sweet romance between Bulldog and Dani, and how he has a heart of gold and a strong desire to protect those he loves.
Wondering ‘What should I read next?’ Read Port Hope by Clover Autrey.
Everyone in Delta Cameron’s life has been taken from her, her parents and her husband. Everyone except her young daughter. Now, claiming Delta can't care properly for a child with epilepsy, her wealthy mother-in-law is threatening to take Abby from her as well. The only place Delta knows to go where the lawyers serving papers can’t find her, is the cottage her aunt left her in the Texas coastal town. In Port Hope, Delta allows her heart to grieve and begins to trust the unconventional locals: a craftsman, Coffee, who lost his leg to cancer, and yet is as happy-go-lucky as the mutt who’s adopted him; Fitz and Red, quarreling fishermen who have split the beach between them yet won’t fish if the other isn’t there; and Beulah, the cantankerous bar owner who, like Delta, has worries about her own daughter. Just when Delta begins to trust again, her mother-in-law finds them. I’m always looking for the best books to read, and I need book recommendations.
